Elon Musk’s The Boring Co. files for Pflugerville building

The Boring Co., owned by Elon Musk, is expanding its roots to Pflugerville, according to a project filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The project registered with the TDLR on Dec. 7 for the industrial building at 15709 Impact Way, Bldg 2, Ste. B, Pflugerville. The estimated cost to renovate the 40,000-square-foot building is estimated to be around $130,000.

As stated under the TDLR project details, the project will be privately funded on private land. Construction will include the addition of a unisex bathroom.

Musk has big plans for expansions in Texas after he announced over the summer that Tesla will build its next manufacturing plant in Travis County, east of the city of Austin. The Tesla “gigafactory” is expected to bring at least 5,000 new jobs.

The Boring Co. was founded by Musk in 2016 to build tunnels. On Nov. 9, The Boring Co. tweeted that “’Austin Chalk’ is geologically one of best soils for tunneling,” with a link to job postings on its website for Austin.

On the company’s website there are a number of positions posted for the Austin-area ranging from electrical engineers to mechanical engineers.

A leasing brochure for the Pflugerville space lists JLL real estate firm as the contact. The brochure states the building was built in 2019 and hit the market in November.

The start date for construction at the Pflugerville building is listed as Dec. 10 to be completed by Dec. 31.
