From planned pedestrian improvements to the full reconstruction of a roadway, see the latest on seven planned, ongoing or completed road projects in Richardson. This list is not comprehensive.
Upcoming projects
Collins Boulevard overpass improvements
Project: The Collins Boulevard overpass project includes modifications to existing bicycle and traffic lanes. Further work includes signal and sidewalk improvements.
Update: City officials are preparing to award a contract for the project, which is expected to begin next year.
Saint Paul Drive reconstruction
Project: The project includes replacing the existing asphalt roadway with a 27-foot concrete roadway along Saint Paul between Spring Valley Road and US 75. Crews will also replace 170 linear feet of 8-inch water lines.
Update: City officials from Dallas and Richardson approved an interlocal agreement that will allow a design for the project to be finalized.
Ongoing projects
Custer Parkway reconstruction
Project: Crews will complete a full street reconstruction of Custer Parkway from Campbell Road to the President George Bush Turnpike.
Update: Traffic on Custer Road between Lookout Road and Canyon Creek Drive shifted to the newly constructed outside southbound roadway in mid-October.
Richland Park Drive reconstruction
Project: The reconstruction project includes two segments: Sheffield Drive to Tiffany Trail and Stillmeadow Drive to Wentworth Drive. Crews are rebuilding the roadway along the two segments while replacing utility lines under the road.
Update: Work crews continue to install utilities along the street. Paving for the northbound travel lanes is also ongoing.
Vernet Street asphalt overlay
Project: Work includes milling the existing asphalt layer, repairing the concrete panels for the road and adding a fresh asphalt layer on top of Vernet Street. Along with the road repairs, crews are repairing curbs and gutters as needed.
Update: Repairs on the westbound lane have been completed and work on the eastbound lanes is ongoing.
West Shore Drive, Fontana Avenue improvements
Project: Improvements to sidewalks and utilities are included in the project, which will also address pavement repairs along West Shore Drive between Arapaho Road and Campbell Road. Work is also being performed along Fontana Avenue between West Shore and Meadow View Drive.
Update: The northbound lane of West Shore between Arapaho and Melrose Drive was closed in mid-October to allow for the repair of a water line. During the closure, traffic is diverted to the southbound lane and no on-street parking is permitted.
Completed projects
Sherman Street, Lingco Drive reconstruction
Project: Crews rebuilt South Sherman Street between West Kaufman Street and Lingco Drive. Work also included reconstructing Lingco between Sherman and Spring Valley Road.
Update: The project’s contractor completed construction and is working on final punch list items.
