Richardson is now one of several cities to test a new, advanced home delivery vehicle, according to a recent newsletter from the city of Richardson.
Simulated deliveries occurred in a neighborhood near Berkner High School. The vehicle, Roxo, was developed by Deka for FedEx. Deka, headquartered in New Hampshire, is made up of engineers, manufacturers and other professionals who create technological innovations and solutions, according to the company’s website.
Roxo is 5.5 feet tall and 450 pounds with the ability to hold around 100 pounds, according to the city newsletter.
With the help of sensors, Roxo detects motion and objects up to 150 feet away. The sensors allow for travel on roads and sidewalks, according to the city newsletter.
