Girl Scout cookies go on sale next week, and the organization is unveiling a new addition this season.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program began in 1917 and is the largest fundraiser for girls in the U.S., according to a press release from the organization. The 2020 season begins Jan. 17 and continues through March 1.
This year, Lemon-Ups, a crispy lemon cookie that includes baked-on inspirational messages, will join the cookie line-up.
The cost of Girl Scout cookies is increasing this year by $1, bringing the price of a box of general cookies to $5 and a specialty cookie box to $6. All proceeds benefit the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas programs, which serves more than 25,000 girls and 12,000 adult volunteers across 32 counties.
