Clean Parks Program launches in Richardson

Grant funding from a local organization has helped the Richardson Parks and Recreation Department launch a new program focused on clean city parks.

According to a city news release, the the city received $5,000 from the Richardson Rotary Club to start the Clean Parks Program, which includes activities for children in first grade and above along with informational materials to explain the impact of trash in parks.

The overview

As part of the program, children in first grade and up can sign up for a Clean Park Patrol passport, which includes several activities. After completing eight of the 12 activities, participants can turn in the completion sheet at either the Heights or Huffhines recreation centers and receive a swag bag of Clean Parks Program items.

As part of the program, city staff are also installing informational signs near pavilions and throughout parks to educate the public about the impact of trash within city parks.

What else?

The city is also installing branded trash bag dispensers and trash bags at both Crowley Park and Pavilion C at Breckinridge Park. Double capacity trash bins are also being installed at Crowley and Berkner parks as well as along Renner Trail.
