In 2021, lawmakers will begin the process of redrawing state and federal legislative districts. Citizens can learn more about what that process entails and its repercussions at a Nov. 9 training in Richardson.
The event—hosted by the League of Women Voters, the Texas Civil Rights Project and the Fair Maps Texas Coalition—is intended to mobilize the community ahead of several public input hearings on the redistricting process.
Lawmakers are depending on citizens to show up to these hearings and provide input on the unique geographic and demographic characteristics of their neighborhoods, according to information from the League of Women Voters. Feedback will influence how the Legislature draws boundaries.
Hearings are tentatively scheduled for Collin County on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Official notices can be found here.
