Registered voters in Richardson will be able to cast ballots in two contested City Council races and five uncontested races in the May 1 election. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The contested races will be Places 4 and 6 on council. Uncontested races include Places 1, 2, 3, 5 and the mayor's position.
In the Place 4 race, incumbent Kyle Kepner is being challenged by Joe Corcoran. Kepner, owner of The Wine Authority, is seeking his second two-year term on council. Corcoran works in corporate compliance.
The Place 6 seat is currently filled by Steve Mitchell, who has reached his term limit after 16 years on council. Seeking the seat are Daniel Burdette, a software development manager at Bio-Rad Laboratories; Marilyn Frederick, a Realtor/broker; and Arefin Shamsul, founder and chief executive officer of Stream Water Group Inc.
