Richardson has seen a number of Middle Eastern restaurants and cafes open in the last several months, primarily in the south area of the city.

Much of the new restaurant growth can be found in several shopping centers that primarily focus on Middle Eastern and Arab businesses, including The Arabian Village and Al Ameera Plaza, in addition to several openings outside of the centers.

The new restaurants represent a range of cuisines, including Palestinian, Yemeni and Syrian food, as well as a coffee shop and nut roastery and a smashburger spot. Mutabak Karak’s Richardson restaurant is its first location in the United States, while New York-based Ayat expanded to Texas for the first time with its new location.
