Upcoming projects
1. Legacy Drive construction
Project: Crews will build two lanes of Legacy Drive from Prosper Trail to Watkins Middle School plus additional deceleration and turn lanes adjacent to the campus. The project also includes construction of a water line along Legacy Drive and drainage improvements along the roadway.
Update: The design phase is complete and Prosper Town Council approved a $6.1 million construction contract in May.
2. Craig Road construction
Project: Craig Road will be built as a three-lane road from Preston Road to First Street, a two-lane road from First Street to Broadway Street and a neighborhood street from Broadway Street to Fifth Street. The project will include paving, drainage and a water line along the roadway.
Update: Design work is almost complete, and utility relocations are ongoing.
3. Coleman Street Widening
Project: Coleman Street in Prosper is being widened to four lanes. One project will widen the roadway from two to four lanes between Gorgeous Road and Prosper Trail, and a second project will construct the remaining two southbound lanes of Coleman Street between Prosper Trail and Prosper High School.
Update: Both projects are nearing completion of the design phase. The town has acquired necessary right of way for both sections, and utility relocation is underway.
Ongoing projects
4. Oklahoma Drive improvements
Project: Crews are converting Oklahoma Drive from asphalt to concrete from Pecan Street to Malone Street. Work also includes drainage, signage, lighting and landscaping improvements.
Update: Oklahoma Drive is open to traffic between Pecan Street and Beech Street as paving work moves to the segment between Beech Street and Malone Street.
5. Coit Road improvements
Project: Coit Road is being widened from two to four lanes in two sections. The city of Celina is widening the road from East Outer Loop to Choate Parkway, and the city is working with Collin County to widen the road from Choate Parkway to Vest Lane.
Update: Paving, drainage and intersection improvements are ongoing from Choate Parkway to Vest Lane.
6. Dallas North Tollway extension
Project: Dallas North Tollway is being extended from US 380 in Prosper to FM 428 in Celina. A future phase will further extend the tollway from FM 428 to the Grayson County line.
Update: Bridge decks, the load-bearing part of the tollway, have been completed from US 380 to Light Farms Way, according to a North Texas Tollway Authority progress report. Crews continue to work on walls, drainage and paving. Work on the intersection at FM 428 is expected to wrap up in late summer or early fall.
Completed projects
7. Ash Street improvements
Project: Ash Street in downtown Celina was widened from two to four lanes between Preston Road and Oklahoma Drive. Improvements also included adding on-street parking, street lighting and landscaped medians.
Update: Construction on eastbound lanes wrapped up, and the roadway reopened July 7, according to a city announcement on social media.
