Construction to widen Legacy Drive north of Prosper Trail is expected to begin later this summer.
The project will build up to four lanes of Legacy Drive near Watkins Middle School, which Prosper ISD officials plan to open for the 2027-28 school year.
Prosper Town Council approved a $6.1 million construction contract at a May 19 meeting.
The details
The contract includes building two lanes from Prosper Trail to Watkins Middle, then adding a four-lane divided roadway from Watkins Middle to Parvin Road, according to town documents.
Construction will also add drainage upgrades along Legacy Drive, including:
- Bridge culvert
- Concrete curb and gutter roadway
- Underground drainage improvements
The breakdown
The project is funded through an agreement between the town of Prosper and PISD.
PISD is funding the upfront costs, then the town of Prosper will reimburse the district for a portion of the design, construction, land and utility costs totaling $6.1 million.
The total budget for the project is $10.6 million, according to the project website.
“Thanks again to the school district for working with us,” council member Craig Andres said. “It’s a great example of all of us working together.”
Looking ahead
Construction is scheduled to start this summer and wrap up by mid-2027 ahead of the 2027-28 school year, per the project website.
