Upcoming projects
1. Teel Parkway construction
Project: Teel Parkway will be updated with new pavement into a four-lane concrete roadway from First Street to Freeman Way.
Update: The project is in the design phase with the project expected to start next winter.
2. Prosper Trail construction
Project: Prosper Trail will undergo a full pavement reconstruction from Coit Road to Custer Road. The new pavement section will be a four-lane concrete divided roadway.
Update: The design phase is nearing completion, and construction is expected to begin in summer 2028.
3. Frontier Parkway updates
Project: Frontier Parkway will be reconstructed to a four-lane concrete roadway from Preston Road to Custer Road.
Update: The project is in the design phase with 60% of the plans sent to the Texas Department of Transportation. Construction is slated to begin in 2027 based on available funding.
Ongoing projects
4. FM 428 improvements
Project: FM 428 is undergoing rehabilitation and maintenance from FM 455 to the Denton County line, including asphalt removal and replacement.
Update: Crews are working on connections to side streets, utility improvements and roadway striping as the project wraps up.
5. Coit Road phase 1 widening
Project: Coit Road will be widened from a four-lane roadway to a six-lane concrete roadway from First Street to Prosper Trail. The project includes the roadway, curbs, underground work and drainage.
Update: Construction is roughly two-thirds complete. Paving was scheduled to begin in early June but has been delayed due to heavy rain.
6. CR 52 reconstruction
Project: CR 52 is being reconstructed from West Outer Loop to FM 428. The project will add an asphalt overlay and underground drainage upgrades.
Update: Construction has entered Phase 3. During this phase, residents will use West Outer Loop while FM 428 is reserved for hospital delivery vehicles, according to the city’s social media.
7. Coit Road resurfacing
Project: Coit Road will receive an asphalt overlay from CR 92 to Ousley Boulevard and from Lynn Stambaugh Parkway to J. Fred Smith Parkway.
Update: Construction on the first section from CR 92 to Ousley Boulevard started on June 17.
8. Choate Parkway reconstruction
Project: Choate Parkway is being reconstructed from the existing two-lane roadway to a six-lane divided roadway from Coit Road to Roseland Parkway.
Update: The project is divided into two phases. The first phase is under construction, and the second phase has been delayed due to utility relocation.
9. First Street widening
Project: First Street will be widened from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane divided suburban roadway from Dallas North Tollway to Coleman Street.
Update: Contractors began work in May and are installing waterlines. The town is coordinating with BNSF Railway to widen the rail crossing with temporary gates and pavement while construction is underway.
