As America approaches its 250th birthday, Prosper and Celina residents will have to plan their celebrations with municipal restrictions on fireworks in mind.
The Fourth of July may also affect hours of municipal services, including some closures July 3.

Celina and Prosper both prohibit the sale, possession and use of fireworks within municipal limits, according to their respective ordinances., according to their respective ordinances.
Those restrictions also apply to areas of the municipalities’ extraterritorial jurisdictions within 5,000 feet.
Outside of those areas, fireworks are allowed on private property in the unincorporated areas of Denton and Collin counties.
Residents in the area looking for a fireworks display can check out Prosper’s Pride in the Sky event July 2.
Pride in the Sky will feature vendors, food trucks and live music from 5-10 p.m. at Frontier Park, and the fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m., according to the event schedule.
What else?
The Prosper Community Library and book drop-off will be closed July 3 and 4, according to the town’s social media.
The Celina Public Library will be closed July 4, according to a social media post.
Prosper’s town administrative services, including the 407 Rec Center and utility billing, will be closed July 3 in advance of the holiday weekend, according to social media.
Celina City Hall already operates on a four-day schedule and will not be affected by the holiday, according to the hours listed on the city’s website.
Normal trash and recycling services will not be impacted in Prosper or Celina, although there will be no Saturday bulk trash drop-off in Prosper this week, per social media.
