The Celina Economic Development Corp. is spearheading an initiative designed to make it easier for local businesses and organizations to get involved with their community.
The proposed program, called Celina Connection, would create a central platform for partnership opportunities like sponsoring city events or hosting a business roundtable.
City staff already fields requests from organizations looking to get involved, and Celina Connection would be a valuable resource to help find the best way for each partner to engage, said Stephanie Tucker, the CEDC’s director of strategy and partnerships.
“When someone comes to us, we want to be ready,” Tucker said.
Celina City Council directed the CEDC to move forward with the project at an Oct. 13 meeting.
About the program
Celina Connection would produce an annual resource guide of potential partnership opportunities available in print and online, according to Tucker’s presentation.

A listing for each opportunity would include key details like timing, responsibilities, benefits and the primary point of contact.
Celina Connection would offer both one-time partnerships and annual partnerships for groups who want to maintain year-round engagement.
In addition to traditional sponsorships, opportunities for businesses and organizations to engage with the Celina community include:
Teaching a business workshop
Volunteering with company staff
Tabling at a city event
Celina Connection would also help organizations make data-driven decisions by tracking how each partnership elevated the business’s visibility and providing a summary of the results, per the presentation.
The platform wouldn’t just promote partnerships with government entities like the city or the CEDC, Tucker said.
