Celina ISD students returned for the first day of school on Aug. 12.
Campuses across the district reopened their doors, and Willard Middle School, CISD’s newest campus, opened its doors for the first time.
Willard Middle School is the district’s second middle school. It was built with funds from the district’s 2019 bond, according to the district’s website.
Renovations at Celina High School were also completed over the summer ahead of the 2026-27 school year, district officials said.

Willard Middle School is part of a wave of new schools opening to accommodate CISD’s rapid growth.
District-wide enrollment could top 23,000 students by 2034-35, according to district data.
Next fall, the district’s sixth, seventh and eighth elementary schools are set to open for the 2027-28 school year:
Alma Jo Scott Elementary School is under construction using funds from the district’s 2019 bond, while Ophelia Grumbles Elementary School and Janet H. Calvert Elementary School will be built using funds from the 2025 bond.
