Celina ISD will “intentionally integrate” artificial intelligence into the classroom, according to the district’s Vision Statement for Artificial Intelligence Integration.
Chief Technology Officer Zach Allen and Chief Academic Officer Kyla Prusak presented the vision statement as part of an update on the district’s Artificial Intelligence committee at a July 27 CISD board of trustees meeting.
The committee, which includes teachers, administrators and students from across the district, has worked for over a year to help officials understand how AI can support learning, according to the presentation.

CISD’s approach to AI focuses on technology as a tool to support individual and group learning, according to the district’s website.
Students and teachers at CISD have access to MagicSchool, an AI platform designed for K-12 schools, per the website.
According to MagicSchool’s website, teachers can use the platform to help with classroom management tasks such as:
- Writing lesson plans
- Making rubrics
- Creating presentations
- Generating worksheets
On the other end, students can use the tool to create interactive learning aids, receive feedback and track their progress on specific topics, per MagicSchool’s website.
Students may also have access to AI tools built into other platforms that have already been reviewed and approved by the district, according to CISD’s website.
The conditions
Under the new guidance, using AI tools for plagiarism or cheating will be treated the same way as other forms of academic dishonesty like copying another student’s work, according to the Celina ISD Student Handbook.
Teachers will be expected to set guidelines for AI use on specific assignments based on grade level, skill level and learning goals, according to the district’s website.
Like other providers, AI companies that contract with CISD are also required to comply with federal and state laws to protect student privacy, per the website.

Parents and students at CISD are required to complete an annual Student Device Contract acknowledging the district’s Acceptable Use Policy.
The policy will be updated to include a section clarifying the district’s stance on AI, per the CISD website.
