Here’s the latest on five ongoing and upcoming transportation projects in Plano, according to the city’s community investment program.

Upcoming projects
Traffic signalization for six intersections and modification for one
Project: The city is adding new traffic signals at six intersections and modifying the signals at the SH 121 and Spring Creek Parkway intersection, per previous reporting.
Update: The project was approved by Plano City Council Sept. 28. Designs are estimated to be completed in a year.
Ongoing projects
Legacy area intersection improvements
Project: Crews are working on new turn lanes and safety improvements for five intersections in west Plano.
Update: Work is complete at all intersections except Legacy Drive and Corporate Drive. Community Investment Program Engineering Manager Clay Lipscomb said work at that intersection has been delayed due to utility conflicts and is now expected to be completed in November.
Sidewalk repair in east Plano
Project: The city is repairing sidewalks in residential areas of east Plano.
Update: Public Works Community Investment Program Manager Drew Zaeske said the city completes repairs in east Plano as needed when requests come. He said the city has used $3.98 million of funds allocated for this project so far.
Arterial overlay 2026 [public works]
Project: The city is laying down a new overlay and doing small concrete repairs at various arterial roadways.
Update: Zaeske said this project is on track to be completed in early October. All concrete repairs and asphalt overlays have been completed and the city is working on putting down permanent pavement markings.
Bob Woodruff North lighting replacement
Project: The city is replacing 17 electric light poles with solar-powered poles around the pond at Bob Woodruff Park.
Update: The project is expected to be completed Oct. 19 after material sourcing delays earlier during the project.
