1. Preston Road improvements

The projects to add double left-turn lanes on the northbound and southbound sides of Preston Road at Spring Creek Parkway and Parker Road are in the works. Construction crews are waiting on utility relocations at both intersections but expect to begin work by mid-November. A project that will add double left-turn lanes on the eastbound side of Spring Creek Parkway is also expected to begin soon. 2. Windhaven Parkway widening

Traffic has been redirected onto the finished lanes between Gentle Way and Communications Parkway as this widening project continues. The inside eastbound and westbound lanes will be closed, however, as crews install street lights and sidewalk ramps. When complete, Windhaven Parkway will be widened into a six-lane divided thoroughfare from Gentle Way to Parkwood Boulevard and a four-lane divided thoroughfare from Parkwood Boulevard to Spring Creek Parkway. 3. Park Boulevard hike and bike trail improvements

Crews are continuing the construction of a 12-foot-wide hike and bike trail along the north side of Park Boulevard between Archerwoood Street and Enterprise Drive. The outer westbound lane of Park Boulevard will be closed for the duration of this project. Timeline: April 2015-January 2016 Cost: $2.1 million Funding sources: city of Plano, NCTCOG

4. Dallas North Tollway project

Construction to expand bridges along the Dallas North Tollway continues in this widening project between SH 121 and the President George Bush Turnpike and will continue through November. Crews are also removing concrete barriers along the southbound lane over Parker Road, and Windhaven and Spring Creek parkways. Crews have also set concrete barriers on the southbound direct connectors to the PGBT. In order to complete the setting of this barrier, the direct-connectors will temporarily be closed. This work will take place during overnight hours in order to minimize the effect on the public. Timeline: May 2015-early 2018 Cost: $281.5 million Funding sources: North Texas Transit Authority

5. Legacy Drive repairs

One to two westbound and eastbound lanes along Legacy Drive between Coit Road and Marchman Way are closed for concrete repairs in this multiphase project. The entire repair project is expected to be complete by April, weather permitting. Timeline: April 2015-April 2016 Cost: $1.8 million Funding sources: city of Plano

6. Transportation Update: Independence Parkway repairs

The outside southbound lanes along Independence Parkway at Parker Road are closed periodically as crews work to complete a median reconstruction project after adding right-turn lanes on the southbound side of Independence Parkway and in the eastbound side of Parker Road and Park Boulevard. All work is expected to be complete by the end of October. At this time, crews will return for an 18-month pavement repair project from Spring Creek to Plano parkways. 15th Street construction

Traffic along 15th Street from G Avenue to US 75 will be reduced to one lane in each direction during nonpeak traffic times while material deliveries and actual paving operations are in process in this infrastructure replacement and relocation project. Motorists are urged to watch for flagmen and drive with care. Westbound traffic has been placed on new pavement along the north side of the road.
