Plano Transportation updates

1. Alma Drive improvements

Crews are working on concrete repairs in two sections along Alma Drive.  One southbound lane between 15th Street and Park Boulevard will be closed periodically as work to repair and expand a nearby inlet continues. The expected completion date is Sept. 1.  A southbound lane will also be closed between Spring Creek Parkway and Legacy Drive periodically. Work on this section of Alma Drive should be complete by the end of September. Timeline: October 2013-September 2015 Cost: $2 million Funding sources: city of Plano

2. Legacy Drive repairs

One to two westbound and eastbound lanes along Legacy Drive from Archgate Drive to Independence Parkway are closed for concrete repairs and pothole patchwork. Work is being conducted in phases along Legacy Drive, and crews are working in the eastbound lanes from Archgate Drive to Coit Road and from Quarry Chase Drive to Independence Parkway. The entire project is expected to be complete by April 2016, weather permitting. Timeline: April 2015-April 2016 Cost: $1.8 million Funding Sources: city of Plano

3. Preston Road intersection improvements

Various lanes at Preston Road and Spring Creek Parkway will be closed during nonpeak hours as construction related to the installation of additional left-turn lanes for north, south and eastbound traffic continues. Crews have removed the existing pavement and are in the process of pouring new concrete. A similar project is underway at the Preston and Parker roads intersection, which began Aug. 5, for the installation of additional left-turn lanes north and southbound on Preston Road. 4. Midway Road repairs

One northbound lane and one southbound lane along Midway Road from Plano Parkway to Parker Road are closed for concrete repairs. Upon completion of this phase, crews will continue the repair work moving southbound to Park Boulevard. Work is expected to be completed by the end of November, weather permitting. Timeline: June-November 2015 Cost: $990,000 Funding sources: city of Plano, Collin County  

5. Dallas North Tollway project

A widening project along the Dallas North Tollway between the President George Bush Turnpike and the Sam Rayburn Tollway is underway. In the coming weeks, drivers can expect to see crews pouring columns for the bridge expansions at Chapel Hill and Park boulevards. Crews will also be removing concrete barriers along the southbound mainlane bridges over Parker Road, Windhaven Parkway, as well as along the thoroughfare south of Spring Creek Parkway and over Spring Creek Parkway. Various lanes will be closed during nonpeak hours. Timeline: May 2015-early 2018 Cost: $260 million Funding Sources: North Texas Transit Authority

5. Windhaven Parkway

The eastbound and westbound inside lanes between Gentle Way and Communications Parkway will be closed between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Crews will widen Windhaven Parkway to a six-lane divided thoroughfare from Gentle Way to Parkwood Boulevard and a four-lane divided thoroughfare from Parkwood Boulevard to Spring Creek Parkway. The project is expected to be complete by April 2016. Timeline: May 2015-March 2016 Cost: $4.4 million Funding sources: city of Plano
