With construction to widen US 75 through McKinney now complete, the Texas Department of Transportation is expected to begin a similar redevelopment project through Plano in early spring. The project will run from Park Boulevard to the President George Bush Turnpike and includes an overhaul of the US 75 interchange at the PGBT.

“We are confident that this project will ease the congestion in that area,” TxDOT Dallas District Engineer Kelly Selman said.

Additionally, the city of Plano will soon begin its project to create additional right-hand turn lanes at intersections on Dallas Parkway to assist the North Texas Transit Authority’s widening project taking place along the Dallas North Tollway.

US 75/President George Bush Turnpike reconfiguration

Additional lanes will be added along northbound US 75, and the existing ramp from 15th Street on the southbound side will also be relocated to the north and braided under the exit ramp to Plano Parkway to improve access between US 75 and the PGBT. The entire project is expected to be complete in late 2018, according to TxDOT.

Dallas parkway improvements

Designs and street easement acquisitions are complete for pending intersection improvements along Dallas Parkway at Parker Road and Park Boulevard.

Construction at both intersections is set to begin in April. When complete, Dallas Parkway will have extended northbound and southbound right-turn lanes onto Parker Road and Park Boulevard.

The existing right turn lanes will function as an additional through lane. The added turn space is expected to increase capacity and improve traffic congestion at these intersections. The city will receive half of its total cost for the road improvements from Collin County, as the project is part of the city’s community investment program.

The city expects the $1.4 million project to be complete by August.
