The Plano City Council at a Nov. 23 regular meeting approved a request by KHYI 95.3 to hold its 20th annual Texas Music Revolution Festival at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve on March 25-26.
The radio station had previously hosted the festival at Southfork Ranch and was looking for a new, larger location, according to city staff reports. KHYI will receive a five-year agreement with the city with an option to renew.
The city also agreed to provide the radio station a cash advance of $100,000 annually under this agreement to cover costs, along with in-kind city services to include police security worth up to $85,000.
The city will pay for this through its Convention and Tourism Fund, according to Amy Fortenberry, Plano Parks and Recreation director.
