The Auto Shop reaches 40 years of business in Plano

The Auto Shop in Plano celebrated 40 years of business in Plano on Jan. 15.

Owner Jerry Kezhaya began working on cars in his high school shop class and started his company in the garage of his house in the early 1980s, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper.

The full-service automotive repair shop now operates at 2560 E. Plano Parkway, Plano, out of a space roughly 10 times bigger than that garage.

Kezhaya made the conscious decision to stay in Plano over the past 40 years, he said, and has served on various city commissions, including the Plano Planning and Zoning Commission, the Plano Board of Adjustment and the Collin County Park Foundation Advisory Board.

“I’m really old-fashioned in that I put down roots in this community,” Kezhaya said. “I wanted to establish myself as someone that lives here, works here, plays here, and, man, we really did that.”

The Auto Shop offers services for brake systems, cooling and heating systems, and exhaust systems. Also offered at The Auto shop are maintenance services and services for electrical systems, fuel systems, suspension systems, drive train systems and emissions. 972-578-0588. www.theautoshop.com
