Plano officials approved setbacks for a new 280-foot sculpture and new property boundaries for the AT&T headquarters coming to Plano at a meeting May 26.

The new sculpture can have a stealth commercial antenna at any height within the structure, per city documents.
The sculpture will be located 50 feet from Legacy Drive and 125 feet from Parkwood Boulevard. Director of Planning Christina Day said commercial antennas would typically need to be constructed further from streets.
“Because of the iconic nature of what [AT&T is] trying to do here, they want it closer to the street,” she said.
Day said the structure has been categorized to be more structurally stable because of the closer proximity.
The new headquarters is located at the former Electronic Data Systems campus. Economic Development Director Michael Talley said demolition at the site started May 20.

Plano’s Planning and Zoning commission approved the antenna structure and site plan May 4.
All structures above 200 feet must receive approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, per previous reporting. The new sculpture will also be prohibited from flashing, strobing, rotating and chasing light effects between 10 p.m.-6 a.m.
