Plano City Council approved funds totaling $2.6 million for various erosion control projects across the city at a meeting July 27.

Officials approved $2.19 million for an erosion control project with three locations near Willow Creek and Ports O’Call.
The funds, which were awarded to Stoic Civil Construction, will be used for slope stabilization, wastewater pipeline improvements and gabion wall repairs, per city documents. The project will be done at two stream bank locations near Willow Creek Drive and Midway Road and at one location near Country Club Place.
The project is to prevent hazardous impacts to nearby properties and structures and exposed wastewater pipelines due to erosion from the stream banks, per city documents.

The city also approved funds for the engineering segment of two erosion projects. According to city documents, $226,996 will be used to fund a feasibility study and preliminary preparation for seven sites on Russell Creek, White Rock Creek and Young’s Branch.
The study will also determine ways to limit streambank erosion to better protect aerial wastewater pipeline crossings, according to city documents. The project funds were awarded to HDR Engineering Inc., a company with experience in streambank stabilization, drainage design, utility coordination and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
According to city documents, $270,000 will be used for preliminary preparation at seven sites on Brown Branch, Cottonwood Creek and Rasor Creek. The project funds were awarded to Freese and Nichols Inc., which has previously worked with the city for its Arbor Hills Nature Preserve erosion control project.
The two projects will determine how severe erosion at these sites is and its potential impact on sanitary sewer infrastructure, per city documents.
