Several Plano ISD construction projects, including the Haggard Middle School replacement, are on track to finish this year.

Tony Pearson, PISD director of planning and new construction, gave a presentation with construction updates on facilities projects funded by the district’s 2022 bond during a Feb. 17 PISD board of trustees meeting.
Four projects are currently slated to be finished prior to the end of the summer, Pearson said, including the complete replacement of Haggard Middle School.
At completion, the 134,610-square-foot middle school building will be replaced by a new 187,900-square-foot campus. The school has remained operational through construction.
After construction finishes on the new building, the old building will be demolished, according to the presentation.
Also set to finish before the end of this summer are the following projects:
- Isaacs Early Childhood School kitchen and dining addition
- Vines High School systems and compliance upgrades
- Clark High School structural repair
Diving deeper
Plano’s new Career and Technical Education Center, the Williams High School Renovation project and several kitchen and classroom renovations are also scheduled to finish construction in 2026.
The CTE Center is currently in vertical construction, as load-bearing wall construction is substantially complete and roof installation is underway, according to the presentation. The project is set to finish in October, but revisions are currently underway to incorporate Radiology equipment into a second-floor classroom.
“It is especially impactful to see this project rise from the ground as it represents a visible investment in future-ready programming for Plano ISD students,” Pearson said.
The second phase of Williams High School’s renovation project is pacing toward November completion, Pearson said. Several final aspects of the project are expected to start work this month, including demolition of the band hall and fine arts areas.
More projects, including major renovation projects at Plano East and West Senior High Schools, are expected to finish in 2027. Plano Senior High School’s major renovation project is expected to wrap up its first of four phases, which includes athletic facility upgrades, next year.

PISD board President Lauren Tyra urged her fellow trustees to “start thinking about planning for the next bond program.”
“If you really want to go see the buildings and look at the conditions of the buildings, start making those requests now,” she said. “Not only is it very informative as a trustee to understand our buildings, but summer is the time we have to do that.”
The most recent PISD bond program prior to 2022 was in 2016.
