1. Michelin-recommended Hattie B’s Hot Chicken opens its second DFW location in Plano
Nashville-based Hattie B’s Hot Chicken opened its Plano location in mid-June.
Hattie B’s Hot Chicken offers five spice-levels, from its mild to its “Shut the Cluck Up!” Visitors seeking nonspicy options can also choose from the restaurant’s classic Southern fried chicken and sweet and smoky dry rub options, according to a news release.
Some of its more popular options include the classic chicken sandwich with custom sauce and pickles, dirty bird fries that are loaded with pimento mac and cheese and desserts like banana pudding, peach cobbler and a waffle sundae.
Yang’s Smokehouse opened in Plano in mid-June.
The smokehouse’s menu has a variety of meat skewers like sliced beef, pork belly, lamb and chicken wings. Other menu items include grilled vegetables, fried rice, stir-fry, noodles and ribs.
Its “Adventurous Eats” section also offers spicy roasted pig brain.
Fresh Monkee is serving protein shakes with a variety of flavors in Keller.
A soft opening by franchise owners Rami and Hannah Saad was at the beginning of June, according to a social media post.
The smoothie business has a menu of naturally flavored, made-to-order protein shakes with ingredients such as milk, protein, fruits, vegetables and natural nut butters, according to a city of Keller social media post.
Some of Fresh Monkee’s shake flavors include watermelon, strawberry limeade, banana split, chocolate-dipped strawberry moon and cinnamon toast.
Bojangles is officially open in Celina, the business confirmed on social media.
The franchise is known for Cajun-seasoned fried chicken with sides like buttermilk biscuits, fries and dirty rice.
Bojangles celebrated the opening of its Celina location by giving away $100 gift cards to the first 100 dine-in customers, according to an email from a company representative.
5. Tayta Peruvian Restaurant set to open in Richardson
Tayta Peruvian Restaurant will open a new location in Richardson.
Tayta serves a range of Peruvian dishes, including wraps, tamales, noodles and sandwiches, according to its website. The restaurant currently operates one location in Fairview.
After 32 years in downtown Denton, Chestnut Tree Bistro will close its restaurant in mid-July and work exclusively in catering, according to an announcement from the owner, Suzanne Johnson.
The announcement stated the building on West Hickory Street was sold to new owners.
The restaurant opened in 1994 as an antique shop and tea room, according to previous Community Impact reporting. Over time, the antique shop evolved into a bistro and tearoom. Menu items include lox and bagels, Monte Cristo sandwiches and house-made biscuits and butter.
