Construction for a new high-rise luxury apartment and townhome project is scheduled to start June 2026.
What they offer
The new facility, known as The Parks at Legacy West, will have 261 high-rise residences at the tower with one, two and three-bedroom options, according to a news release. Residence sizes will range from 682 to 2,843 square-feet. The project will also build three 3-bedroom townhomes ranging from 3,283 to 3,316 square feet next to the high-rise.
“Residents can step into the energy of Legacy West or retreat into a thoughtfully designed environment that prioritizes comfort, privacy and quality of life,” Greg Coutant, the senior vice president of development at StreetLights Residential, said in a statement. “It’s a combination that simply doesn’t exist elsewhere in the submarket.”
The residences will have gas stoves, smart-home technology, kitchen islands, walk-in pantries, large closets, wine refrigerators and powder baths, according to the release. Some homes will also come with fireplaces, balconies, outdoor living spaces and private yards.
The background
The Parks is being constructed by StreetLights Residential, a Dallas-based development company, at the same location as the former JCPenney headquarters. The company has projects in multiple states including Texas, California and Florida according to its website, and focuses primarily on multifamily residences.
Plano City Council approved mixed-use development for the 107-acre lot Nov. 11, 2024. Mixed-use development at the former headquarters is one of several major changes coming to the Legacy area in the next few years, per previous reporting.
