Two Plano park projects, which include renovations at Longhorn Park and Bob Woodruff Park North, are nearing completion.
The city also approved a new sidewalk for Bob Woodruff Park South, per city documents.
In a nutshell
Longhorn Park renovations are expected to be completed Oct. 29, Plano Park Planning Manager Katie Dunham said.
Plano City Council approved the $2 million renovations in April 2025, per previous reporting. Some of the new amenities include:
New playground
New pavilion
New trees
Exercise equipment
Upgraded backstop
Drainage improvements
Dunham said the project is in its final landscaping stage. She said improvements were funded by the city's 2021 Bond, which allocated $81.9 million for park improvements.
Also of note
Dunham said new solar-powered light poles are now standing and functional at Bob Woodruff Park North. The project is one of many renovations at the park, which is closed through February 2027, per previous reporting.
Trails impacted by the new lighting project are now in the final grass installation and clean-up stage, Dunham said, with work expected to be completed within two weeks. She said the project should be completed by the beginning of November.

Plano City Council approved funds for a new sidewalk from the entrance of Bob Woodruff Park South to East Park Boulevard Bridge at a meeting Oct. 12. The new sidewalk, which will cost $311,139, will improve access to the park and other areas, per city documents.
