The city of Plano has closed part of a trail at Bob Woodruff Park North for new light replacements at the park pond until September.

The city is replacing 17 electric light poles with solar-powered poles around the pond at Bob Woodruff Park and has closed a trail for construction as of July 13, according to a social media post from the parks and recreation department.
The project is budgeted to cost $821,000, according to the city. A through path on the trail will stay open for residents to continue north toward Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve and southwest to the trail behind Bob Woodruff Dog Park.

Light pole replacements are one of many renovations taking place at the park, which is currently closed through February 2027, according to the city. Other replacements include restroom replacements, fire hydrant installation, new shade structures for the dog park and accessible walkways to the dog paddocks, per previous reporting.
The city is also working to replace a pedestrian bridge crossing for a section of the park’s trail to Rowlett Creek and renovating 0.6 miles of trails north of the park’s playground. This section of renovations is currently in its design phase, according to the city’s community investment program.
