Tracking COVID-19 in Plano: Active cases drop to 12% of previously reported numbers

In the week since Plano paused its reporting Aug. 27, there have been 14 new coronavirus cases, according to a Sept. 3 release from the city.

Active cases in Plano dropped from 1,151 to 139 in the same time frame. This is due to investigators working through a backlog of Collin County cases that were previously marked as active, the release said.

Those aged 20-29 years old continue to have the highest rate of cases in Plano, with 678 of the city's 3,160 total cases. Those in their 40s follow with the second-highest number, nearly 550 cases.

There was one additional death in Plano reported over the last week, a resident in their 80s. The city total is now 32 deaths since reporting began in March.

In Collin County, data shows 413 cases from Aug. 27-Sept. 3, with 79 new cases reported Sept. 3.

Active cases for the county dropped by thousands due to the backlog investigation. Reported numbers for Sept. 3 show 625 active cases in Collin County.

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in the county went up slightly from the week prior, beginning with 101 hospitalizations Aug. 27 and ending with 100 on Sept. 3. A week earlier, the county reached a number in the low 80s for the first time since mid-July.
