Collin County reports 15 additional coronavirus cases

Collin County health officials announced 15 additional cases of the new coronavirus May 4, including five in Plano.

The county has confirmed a total of 804 cases of the virus, the report states. Plano residents account for 230 of those cases, according to the county’s online dashboard. Including four previously reported Denton County cases, Plano has a total of 234 positive cases of COVID-19, according to a May 5 city report.

There are 249 active cases of COVID-19 in Collin County as of May 4, with 72 active in Plano. Of the county's total number of patients who have tested positive, 533 have successfully recovered, 27 are hospitalized and 222 remain in home isolation, the report said.

There have been 22 deaths of people who had tested positive for the virus in Collin County. On May 1, the county reported the death of an 88-year-old McKinney man with underlying health issues.

There have been 8,253 negative COVID-19 tests in Collin County, and there are 1,268 people being monitored for the virus as of May 4.

On May 1, 41 new cases of the virus were reported by the county. On May 2, 19 new cases were reported, and five were reported May 3.
