Plano officials approved additional funds for an erosion control project at Pecan Hollow Golf Course at a meeting May 26.

The erosion control project for holes 6 and 7 at the golf course was approved for an additional $711,337 after unforeseen soil and groundwater conditions along the course streambank, per city documents. The total cost of the project is now $4,058,971.
The additional funds covers the work required to construct a revised foundation in response to the current soil conditions, per city documents, and includes deeper excavation, added foundation material, special shoring support and continuous dewatering.
Funds for the erosion control project come from the Municipal Drainage Community Investment Program.
The background
City council first approved the erosion control project for Pecan Hollow Golf Course Sept. 8. The project is part of ongoing streambank stabilization projects in Plano to address areas impacted by erosion along Rowlett Creek and the golf course, per previous reporting.
The city has assessed its creeks and allocated funds for erosion control every year since late 2022, according to the city website.

The city also renewed a service agreement with Plano Golf Course, which has managed Pecan Hollow Golf Course since 1994. The current contract was set to expire June 15 per city documents.
