Enzo’s Deli & Imports is scheduled to open Sept. 1 at 4017 Preston Road, Ste. 535, Plano, owner Michael Martin said.
Martin grew up in Italy, where he fell in love with food and wine as well as learning to cook from his family as a child. Decades later, he bought Corner Wines & Wine Bar, but he said he wanted to get back into the kitchen. So in 2021 he forged plans to open a deli with imported Italian delicacies next door to the wine shop.
Almost two years later, his plan to offer the Plano community artisan-based foods is coming to fruition. The deli will offer traditional meats and cheeses imported from Italy, such as salami; mortadella sausage; prosciutto, a raw dry-cured ham; provolone; and aged Parmigiano Reggiano, Martin said.
For hot sandwiches, Enzo’s will serve paninis, a meatball sub with peppers and onions, and a chicken Parmesan. All the recipes are from the Southern Italian towns of Naples, Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, Positano and Capri, he said.
