Plano International Festival set for Oct. 18

Along with the wide selection of cultural vendors, the event will also offer free interactive activities for children, including a festival passport they can fill with stamps while touring the booths to gain a prize.

According to the event program, a naturalization ceremony will start at 11 a.m. on the main stage, followed by multicultural entertainment like Mexican Ballet Folklorico and traditional Scottish Highland dancing.

Starting at 11 a.m., there will also be mini fitness classes led by local trainers, and free health services available at the Courtyard Theater. Some of these services include:

• Vision and dental exams
• Flu shots for children and adults
• Blood pressure, glucose and BMI screenings
• And many more

The Plano International Festival began in 2005 and was organized by the City of Plano’s Multicultural Outreach Roundtable to celebrate the community’s diverse cultural heritage.

The festival is a six-time recipient of the City of Plano’s Environmental Star of Excellence Award. Keeping with that tradition, this year’s festival will be a Zero Waste event to reduce waste and divert more than 90% of it from landfill.
