The city of Pflugerville will launch its on-demand transit program, Pickup, on March 23, in partnership with the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Pflugerville City Council approved the 12-month pilot program Nov. 10 for a 3.5 square-mile service area.
The Pickup zone will operate services on weekdays between 6 a.m.-7 p.m., according to a March 18 Capital Metro news release. A handicapped-accessible service will pick up customers from their location within 15 minutes, per the release.
Locations within the 3.5-square-mile service area include local shopping plazas, medical services, Pflugerville City Hall, the Pflugerville Public Library, parks and other attractions near downtown.
Mayor Victor Gonzales said the system will help assist residents get to work, appointments or connect to larger regional bus systems for additional routes.
