Pflugerville lowers watering restrictions

The city of Pflugerville lowered watering restrictions this week, after an increase in lake storage levels at Highland Lakes, according to a news release.

The overview

Residents can now water up to twice per week using an automatic, above-ground system or a hose-end sprinkler, according to the release. The change removes Pflugerville’s Stage 1 water restrictions, or once-per-week drought restrictions, as the city’s utility departments transitions to its year-round water conservation stage.

The city’s main water source is Lake Pflugerville, which pulls raw water from the Lower Colorado River Authority’s system, also known as the Highland Lakes. Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan serve as primary water supply reservoirs for the region.

According to LCRA, rains in early July increased the combined storage of the lakes from 51% to more than 90% of capacity.

What residents should know

The city’s watering schedule for residents is based on address numbers, with addresses ending in even numbers allowed to water on Thursday and Sunday. Home addresses that end in an odd number can water on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Commercial properties and apartments can now water on Tuesdays and Fridays, while schools and educational facilities can water on Mondays and Fridays.

All watering must occur before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m.
