Hutto is drawing close to final approval of its SOAR 2040 comprehensive plan, a document that will outline and guide the city’s growth priorities over the next 15-20 years.
At a Jan. 3 meeting of the city's planning and zoning commission, commission members reviewed a draft of the plan and voted to recommend that Hutto City Council approve it.
Work on the comprehensive plan began in August 2021 and has involved an array of public engagement, work from several planning firms and a comprehensive plan advisory committee.
Chance Sparks, a representative for planning and consulting firm Freese and Nichols, said one major priority the plan identifies is an emphasis on walkable neighborhoods and trail connectivity.
