Hutto Fire Rescue finalizes first collective bargaining agreement

“This agreement reflects our commitment to supporting the men and women of Hutto Fire Rescue while ensuring they have the tools and protections they need to serve our community safely and effectively,” said ESD board President Todd Robison said in a news release.

The contract formalizes policies already in place while establishing clear procedures for future decision-making. It includes provisions related to compensation adjustments, overtime, certification and education pay, health and retirement benefits, workplace safety standards and a grievance process.

Jason Oltman, president of IAFF Local 4707, said the agreement represents a key step for firefighters in the district and credited collaboration throughout the process.

“Signing our first-ever labor contract is a historic event,” Oltman said, adding that the association looks forward to continuing its working relationship with Fire Chief Scott Kerwood and ESD leadership.

With the agreement finalized, Hutto Fire Rescue becomes the third emergency services district in Texas to adopt a collective bargaining agreement for firefighters, according to the district.

Hutto Fire Rescue provides fire protection, emergency medical services and rescue operations across approximately 63 square miles, including the city of Hutto and surrounding areas. The department operates four fire stations throughout the district.
