Brazoria County residents will have the opportunity to donate items now through December for a time capsule project beginning in 2025, according to a Feb. 13 news release from the county.
The gist
The time capsule will be at the Brazoria County Courthouse for the future unveiling in 2075, which is the 250th anniversary of the Empresario contract Stephen F. Austin received from Mexico on June 4, 1825. This contract provided the legal settlement to begin, which created Brazoria County as the economic heart of the colony, according to the release.
Residents will be allowed to contribute photographs, and video and audio recordings. Videos are required to be in the 1080p .mp4 format at less than three minutes durations, according to the release. Audio recordings should be in an .mp3 format and less than 15 minutes. Small artifacts are also allowed at less than five cubic inches, which is about the size of a cell phone.
