Comfort Foodies, a Latin-Carribean and southern soul food fusion restaurant, has soft opened its new Missouri City location, officials announced in an Aug. 12 news release.
The opening comes after the Comfort Foodies location off North Sam Houston Parkway West closed in the spring after almost four years in operation, according to a March Facebook post by the business.
On the menu
The restaurant offers oxtails with rice and beans, pork chops, southern catfish and empanadas with a variety of fillings, according to its website. It also features peach cobbler and bread pudding for dessert.
The new location will have a full bar with specialty cocktails and an expanded frozen empanada line.
Meet the owners
Elsa and Jeff Matthews founded Comfort Foodies in 2020 as a food truck and catering services, according to its website. The brand blends cuisines from their own heritages and upbringings, including Elsa Matthews’ Dominican and New York roots and Jeff Matthews’ southern soul food, according to the news release.
“We have been looking forward to the day when we could finally open these doors and welcome the Missouri City community into our new home,” Elsa Matthews said in the news release. “This location represents so much growth for us, but at the heart of Comfort Foodies, we are still about the same things we have been since day one — great food, family, culture and community. We’re excited for everyone to come in, eat with us and be part of this next chapter.”
