Manvel City Council OKs first reading of zoning change for new medical clinic

Manvel City Council voted 7-0 to approve the first of two readings of a zoning change that would allow for the development of a new medical clinic during its July 21 meeting.

The details

The 0.55-acre vacant lot is located at 19200 Morris Ave., along the south side of Hwy. 6. It was rezoned from light commercial to the same designation with a specific-use permit.

According to city documents, property owner Charles Huang plans to develop the site into Manvel Medical Clinic, offering family medicine, preventative care, ultrasound imaging and allergy testing, among other services.

The clinic would be part of a broader network with existing locations across the Greater Houston area, including in Conroe, Humble and Kingwood.

What's next

Because the ordinance passed unanimously, the second reading will appear on the consent agenda at the Aug. 4 council meeting, allowing it to be approved without further discussion unless pulled by the council.
