Chops Barber Lounge in Pearland will celebrate its grand opening in late April.
The details
The lounge, which had its soft opening on March 17, will offer all types of haircuts from fades, tapers, scissor cuts to beard trims and lineups.
How we got here
Owner Noah Morales said his journey as a barber began 10 years ago in the locker room of Milby High School.
"After class, I would practice cutting my friends’ hair—trading snacks or promising free cuts once I got better," Morales said.
After graduation, Morales paid for his education as a student at the University of Houston by cutting hair and later enrolled in the Franklin Barber Institute.
"At that point, I wasn’t sure I wanted to open a shop—I just knew cutting hair was all I had ever done, but I also knew I couldn’t cut hair out of my parents’ house forever," Morales said. "I had to figure out if this was truly the path I wanted to pursue."
In September, Morales signed the lease on the Pearland building that would be come Chops Barber Lounge before the business opened its doors in March.
Quote of note
"By God’s timing and plan, what started as a hobby in a high school locker room turned into something much bigger—a purpose," Morales said.
