MetroRail riders will once again be able to take the commuter train on Saturdays after service resumes Jan. 11.
Capital Metro had paused Saturday service in June while it worked on implementing the federally mandated Positive Train Control safety system. PTC implementation will continue throughout 2020, according to the agency.
In April, the agency also began construction on the new downtown rail station adjacent to the Austin Convention Center that required the halt of Saturday service, according to the agency.
In November, Capital Metro opened a temporary downtown rail platform after closing the station for the start of construction. The new downtown station will open in spring 2021.
