The city of Austin has planned lane closures on Burnet Road in North Austin on a daily basis through at least early August as crews construct a new safe crossing for pedestrians.
According to a July 13 newsletter from the city of Austin Corridor Program Office, crews will close one or more lanes during the day around the intersection of Burnet and Penny Lane.
The lane closures come as construction crews need to trench across the road, according to the city. Pavement covers will be placed on the roadway following construction work each day to allow vehicles to drive over the trench on Burnet.
This construction will add a pedestrian hybrid beacon across Burnet from Penny Lane to Doris Drive, which will make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists to cross Burnet.
