City of Austin asking for input on possible improvements to Cameron, Dessau roads

The city of Austin Transportation Department is asking residents to provide feedback on mobility improvements on Cameron and Dessau roads in North Austin.

Officials are seeking insight to improve the roadways stretching from 51st Street to Parmer Lane. According to a Nov. 25 newsletter from the department, public feedback will be used to analyze potential safety and mobility improvements for residents who travel along the roads.

Public feedback is being collected through Dec. 22. Residents can submit feedback through online surveys available in English and Spanish.

The department has also built an interactive map for location-specific comments. Comments on the interactive map can be “liked” by other residents with similar observations.

According to the city’s website, safety and mobility concerns along these stretches of Cameron and Dessau were identified by the community on Austin’s Vision Zero Input Map. Vision Zero is a strategic plan adopted by Austin City Council in 2016 aimed toward reaching zero traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2025.

The public input provided by the community may be used to shape improvements along the roadways funded through Austin’s 2016 Mobility Bond and 2018 Bond Pedestrian Crossing program, according to the city’s website.
