Capella Parkway to become Clear Skies Way in Georgetown
Georgetown City Council gave preliminary approval to change the name of Capella Parkway to Clear Skies Way at a July 28 meeting.
The street intersects with Lakeway Drive in northeast Georgetown. Located near the Georgetown Municipal Airport, City Manager David Morgan said the name will tie the street to the airport.
The road will open a second connection point—other than Northwest Boulevard—to the airport, Morgan said.
Round Rock could add all-way stop to Mayfield Ranch Boulevard, East New Hope Drive intersection
The intersection of East New Hope Drive and Mayfield Ranch Boulevard could become a four-way stop, pending final action from local officials.
As the northwestern portion of the city grows, the intersection’s observed traffic volume is approaching the threshold for an all-way stop, Assistant Transportation Director Brian Kuhn said in a July 21 packet briefing.
If approved, stop signs would be added to the eastbound and westbound lanes on East New Hope Drive. The intersection currently operates as a two-way stop for northbound and southbound traffic on Mayfield Ranch Boulevard.
The city is seeking public feedback on the potential renaming of Cesar Chavez Street following some City Council members' request for the change earlier this year.
The city is asking residents whether the street should be renamed, and if so, what designation to use as a replacement. Council will take that input before making any final decisions.

MoKan Trail Bridge installation underway in East Austin
Phase 5 of the MoKan Trail project is underway, per a recent Austin Transportation and Public Works update. The project aims to improve walking and biking connections in East Austin.
According to Austin TPW, city of Austin crews began installing a shared-use trail segment and bridge over Boggy Creek in January as part of Phase 5 of the project. Additional safety improvements at the Springdale Road crossing east of the bridge are slated to begin in late September.
Construction on this section is expected to be complete this fall and will close a "key gap" in the trail, officials said.

CapMetro's Bikeshare service to resume Aug. 11
After a temporary service suspension due to an operations facility fire, Capital Metro officials announced that its rentable electric-assist bike service Bikeshare will return in phases beginning Aug. 11.
According to an Austin Transportation and Public Works news release, Bikeshare was suspended after a fire May 23 at CapMetro's operations facility that damaged the system's charging infrastructure.
Now, nearly one-third of the Bikeshare fleet will be available for riding by Aug. 18 in priority areas with the highest customer demand, including The University of Texas.
Data shows reduced crashes, speeding after Cameron/Dessau Road safety improvements
New data from an Austin Transportation and Public Works news release shows that there have been fewer crashes, fewer injuries and less speeding along Cameron Road/Dessau Road after safety improvements were completed earlier this year as part of an ongoing safety project.
The project's largest safety improvements involved adjusting the lane configuration for 5.5 miles between Hwy. 290 and Parmer Lane, which was completed in January. According to Austin TPW, along this section there has been:
