Travelers boarding flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport no longer require appointments for TSA PreCheck enrollment. They can apply on any day they travel out of Austin. This new option takes five minutes or less, and most passengers will receive their Known Traveler Number within three to five days for use on subsequent trips.
Passengers can spot the TSA PreCheck stations as soon as they go through airport security. Uniformed TSA PreCheck enrollment ambassadors will help them through the process. To enroll, passengers will need two forms of official identity such as a passport and a state-issued ID.
TSA PreCheck, an expedited security screening program connecting travelers departing from the U.S., costs $85. Previously, travelers from Austin had to sign up for appointments months in advance and come in for an interview. The walkup service began in Austin on June 23.
“The easier we make it for travelers to enroll in TSA PreCheck, the more people can take advantage of the great benefits the program has to offer,” said Gilbert Almaraz, TSA Federal Security director, Texas.
