Ugly Dumpling opened its latest location in Austin in early June, according to a representative from the business.
The dumpling restaurant was initially projected to open in late January or early February, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
On the menu
The new spot serves soup dumplings, dim sum, noodles, bao buns and bubble tea in the Arboretum. Popular dishes include the spicy chicken wontons, cucumber salad, orange chicken and fortune cookie cheesecake.
Something to know
Ugly Dumpling notes the difference between soup dumplings and dumplings on its website, stating that “traditional dumplings are filled with meat or vegetables, while soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) also contain rich, savory broth inside the wrapper.”
Patrons can choose between pork, chicken, crab, shrimp and spinach soup dumplings.

Ugly Dumpling operates additional locations in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Virginia. The Arboretum restaurant marks the brand’s first Texas spot.
