The third phase of the Little Walnut Creek Flood Risk Reduction project in North Austin officially began in late January, per a Jan. 31 construction update from Capital Delivery Services officials.
About the project
The $19.7 million project aims to reduce flooding from Little Walnut Creek for houses and roads located between Metric Boulevard and Rutland Drive.
The work includes installing concrete box culverts, which are pipes that run under the road to collect floodwater, and creating new inlets to allow water to enter the box culverts. Mearns Meadow Boulevard will also be repaved and reconstructed.
