Austin City Council approved a $27.4 million contract Dec. 1 to upgrade a wastewater line along Parmer Lane in Northwest Austin.
The city plans to install a new 42-inch wastewater pipe along Parmer from north of Anderson Mill Road to south of McNeil Drive. Construction will begin in January and be complete in January 2019.
In 2008, the city of Austin acquired the Walnut Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Lake Creek and Rattan Creek lift stations as part of its annexation of the Anderson Mill neighborhood, according to city documents.
The lift stations are no longer able to handle water flow from Anderson Mill, and the city will decommission them.
