A partnership between the Houston Astros and
Muros kicked off during the ALDS West Division Series to bring a celebratory mural to neighborhoods across the Greater Houston area for every game the team wins.
After the Astros’ first win of the 2019 World Series on Friday, Oct. 25, artists David Maldonado and AJ Rose painted the initiative's eighth postseason mural overnight at the Boardwalk at Towne Lake, 9945 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress.
Lindsey Caldwell, who serves as the Boardwalk’s event planner and digital marketing strategist, said while mural locations are a surprise to the public, the partnership has been in the works for a couple of weeks.
“For each win, the Astros are donating a piece of public art to the city and are teaming up with local artists to create murals around the city,” she said. “They wanted to paint one in Cypress and chose the Boardwalk Towne Lake to display the artwork.”
